I have praise for each individual track in a lot of ways, but as a whole? Sonic Heroes feels muddled and like it has no identity whatsoever. What ties them together? What ties the lazy Seaside Hill, to the fast and energetic Grand Metropolis, to the irreverent Casino Park? They all have entirely different tempos, feels, rhythm tracks, instruments, and never stick to one consistent thing that makes it a soundtrack. Go back and listen to the 3 tracks I highlighted. There’s no overlying theme, nothing making it feel like a cohesive whole, no consistency in any way. To be frank: Sonic Heroes’ biggest issue as a soundtrack is that it barely gels together as a whole.
Absolutely nothing like Casino Park, instead a fast paced, frantic electronic song? Wait, what? The drums almost fade into the background, becoming soft taps, and the song as a whole feels like a lazy, fun time.
Casino Park is a much bouncier song, a lot more lighthearted and less serious.
